We went to the Southampton boat show today, where Honnor Marine had a stand with some of their craft, including the Cape Cutter. With Drift getting close to completion, it was particularly useful to be able to crawl over a finished boat and take some measurements as we consider the ” bits ” we want on the boat.
There were plenty of other interesting boats on show.
There was a yet another 19ft gaffer on a trailer, this time the Windhunter from Poland. Massive cabin, but no centreboard and small sail area. Lots of space, but not the best looking boat – really quite dumpy with such a high coach roof . Big volume for the money (similar price to the Cape Cutter), but doesn’t look like it would handle weather that well.
Mike Brook launched his fascinating book at the show and is camped out on the Cape Cutter / Honnor Marine stand. Despite a wet week, he has sold plenty of books and all proceeds go to charity. Its available here http://www.theosfuture.org
